The China House

next to the Oriental Hotel, 48 Oriental Ave-nue, tel. 02-236 04 00. Open daily for lunch and dinner. The best and most authentic Chinese restaurant in Bangkok is located in a beautiful colonial style house. It serves dishes that are hard to find, for example hajfensoppa, marinated squid with preserved duck eggs and braised sea cucumber with garlic.

The Sukhothai, 1313 South Sathorn Road, tel. 02-287 02 22nd Open daily for lunch and dinner. Beautifully situated in the zen-like Sukothai hotel, overlooking a lotus pond. Here you can try authentic royal Thai cuisine, served by highly trained professionals who will help you to combine different foods and create a meal you'll never forget. Salad of banana flowers, spicy king fish soup and sweet and sour tofu are some specialties. The deserts are brilliant.

Shangri-La Hotel, 89 Soi Wat Suan Phu, tel. 02-236 77 77. Open daily for dinner. Located in a romantic surroundings on the riverbank and is classified as one of the best Thai restaurants in the city. The menu offers delicious dishes pomelosallad with grilled prawns and roast duck seasoned with curry and coconut milk. The dessert list includes the typical small rismjölsbollarna with coconut milk and jack fruit.
New York Steakhouse

JW Marriott Hotel, 4 Sukhumvit Soi 2, tel. 02-656 77 00. Open daily for dinner. A cool, nice, modern decorated restaurant with the best meat in town. Perfect and well hung meat from high-quality cattle are flown in from the USA as well as the excellent (but expensive) beef from Australia has also a wide selection of seafood as fresh lobster, swordfish and salmon. In addition, an extensive winelist and, of course, dry martini.
Kuppa

39 Sukhumvit Soi 16, tel. 02-663 04 95th Open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. This is the place you go if you want to eat in Bangkok's trendy. Ultra modern design with lots of glass and chrome. It serves both Thai and Western cuisine and a wide range of vegetarian dishes. The Australian owners change menu often and uses only native ingredients to create new taste sensations. Large selection of wines from Australia at reasonable prices.

Baan Khanitha

Sukhumvit Soi 23, tel. 02-258 41 81st Open daily for lunch and dinner. This well-known restaurant, located in an elegant, converted villa, considered to serve the best Thai food in Bangkok. Their specialties are grilled cotton-fish wrapped in banana leaves and delicate rice filled pineapple and cashew nuts, all served in a hollowed-out pineapple. The most popular Italian restaurant in Bangkok, with spare yet elegant style, modernist decor and an open kitchen. Biscotti has a wood-fired oven for its unique pizzas (such as pizza with lobster tails and mushrooms) and the lovely foccaciabrödet with herbs. Risotto, pasta and any meat round the short menu.
Mango Tree

Soi Tantawan, Surawongse, tel. 28 02-236 20th Open daily for lunch and dinner. This lovely Thai restaurant located in an old charming house and have been serving both outdoors and indoors, just steps from the bustling Patpongkvarteren. It has a fresh and spicy mango salad, chicken baked in palm leaves and a variety of curry dishes on the menu. Presentation of the Thai folk dancing on the weekends.
Harmonique

22 Charoenkrung Soi 34, tel. 02-237 81 75th Open Monday-Saturday for lunch and dinner. One of the more unusual eateries in Bangkok, hidden in a secluded garden close to the French Embassy. The homemade, Thai food is carefully prepared and served. The traditional soup served in lerskålar and fish flavored with curry is delicious. Small wine list and very friendly staff.
Le Dalat

4711 Sukhumvit Soi 23, tel. 02-258 41 92nd Open daily for lunch and dinner. The leading Vietnamese restaurant in Bangkok. Light, airy and always crowded. Among the specialties are Vietnamese spring rolls with fresh vegetables and herbs, deep fried squid and beef sjudits with mint leaves.

Anna's Cafe

118 Soi Saladaeng, Silom, Tel. 02-632 06 19th Open daily 11:00 to 22:00. First in a chain of coffee shops, popular with the younger, as it is relaxed enough to eat an easy meal or a hearty salad with a glass of wine. Main courses, such as smoked catfish and vegetarian curryrättcr can be recommended. The major the attractions are the desserts and coffee drinks.
First one Kalpapruek

The Emporium, 1st floor, Sukhumvit Soi 24, tel. 02-664 84 10th Open daily for lunch and dinner. This airy restaurant, located in Bangkok's most elegant shopping center, is popular with the local professionals, and always serves good Asian food at an affordable price. The dishes are a mix of Thai, Chinese and Indian ingredients such as curry dishes with beans and Chinese sausage.

Ta-Chang Pier, Tel. 02-623 53 41st Open daily 9:00 to 21:00. One of the cheapest places to eat in Bangkok, situated on the riverbank at the pier that goes to the Grand Palace. This unassuming eatery serves very simple but delicious dishes such as noodles and fried rice dishes, flavored with salt fish, pork or vegetables. It also serves American breakfast every morning with scrambled eggs and toast. Does not take credit cards.
